So I came across this editorial in New York magazine, which I thought was a huge fancy.

I can't even remember how I became aware of it, but it's by Jonathan Chate and his title is

The School Closures Were a Catastrophic Error.

Yep.

Progressive still haven't reckoned with it.

Sometimes you need to own up to an error, so it's not repeated.

And you know, if I wanted to and if we had unlimited time, I could read you.

I have a stack of emails on the topic of the tragedy of the school closures, summer

from parents, summer from teachers.

They're talking about the depression, the anxiety, the suicide attempts, the substance

abuse, teachers talking about how they thought when they came back in person, it would all

be better again, but the kids have lost something.

And it's just so different now.

It's really sad.

Yeah.

It's another reason, you know, I haven't pushed it to the top of things we're talking about.

I don't want to take up your time, but I'll never understand how people didn't catch onto

this faster.

Do you remember how confused I was at the time?
