Today we’re going to talk about the health benefits of apple cider vinegar. While apple cider vinegar is being made, certain microbes like bacteria and yeast turn the sugar in apple juice into alcohol, and then eventually into vinegar. The end product vinegar is called acetic acid. Apple juice that’s not pasteurized goes through the process of fermentation. With the help of microbes, it eventually turns into vinegar.

Welcome to the Dr. Berg's Healthy Keto and Interminute Fasting Podcast, where Dr. Berg takes you on the journey for the truth about getting healthy and losing healthy weight. So today we're going to talk about the benefits of apple cider vinegar. All right,

0:48.2

so what is apple cider vinegar? Basically, you're taking the sugar in the apple juice.

0:52.5

And certain microbes, bacteria and yeast,

0:55.9

are turning that sugar into alcohol, then eventually into vinegar. So there's a whole process

1:01.3

that occurs. And the end product vinegar is acetic acid. Now there's other acids involved,

1:07.6

but this is the main one. So remember growing up in Wisconsin, where there was

1:11.8

farms all around our neighborhood. And so we had a crab apple tree. And there was a farmer on the

1:18.4

other side of the cornfield. So I brought him a big bushel basket of crab apples. And I wanted

1:24.3

him to grind up these apples and turn them into apple juice. So he did that for me.

1:30.8

I brought him back in jugs and I left him out in the sun, I think one or two days. And they turned

1:37.2

into something called apple cider. Apple cider is basically a spiked apple juice. Okay, it had some

1:42.5

alcohol in it. And that basically was the start

1:44.5

of my alcoholic journey at eight years old. And I'm completely being sarcastic. So I did not

1:49.7

become an alcoholic at eight years old. More like 20 years old. No, I'm just kidding. But the point

1:54.5

is that if you take apple juice that's not pasteurized, not heated, it goes through fermentation.

2:00.7

Okay. So with the help of microbes, it eventually

2:03.2

turns into vinegar. So there's many different types of vinegar that you can get. The one I'm going to

2:08.1

recommend is a raw, unpasteurized version of vinegar, organic. Braggs has a really good one. It also

2:16.7

has the mother. What is that? That's basically
