| 0:52.4 | with Lyndon Johnson's efforts to end |
| 0:54.0 | the war in Vietnam because Richard Nixon in 68 was running against Vice President |
| 0:58.4 | Hubert Humphrey and if the war was ended, Humphrey would have won. |
| 1:02.6 | And there's no doubt about that, all the polls showed that. |
| 1:05.9 | But with the war continuing, and in 6 by 68, |
| 1:09.2 | it was insanely unpopular. |
| 1:11.4 | And LBJ had actually negotiated peace. |
| 1:14.2 | They were going to meet in Paris that fall and sign the deal. |
| 1:18.8 | And Nixon blew it up just so that he could beat Hugh Humphrey, which he did. |
