“Sometimes you win, sometimes you learn”

I learned this from John Maxwell back in 2015.

Everything that happens is a blessing or a lesson.

You’re being guided to your higher self if you learn.

Otherwise, you’ll repeat the same mistakes.

When my first company failed, I was devastated.

But looking back, it was a lesson, not a setback.

Setbacks are valuable learning experiences.

It taught me to play big and to see every challenge as a stepping stone to success.

Success isn’t about avoiding failure; it’s about learning from it.

This is one of the 21 Principles of the top 0.01% that have shaped my journey.

I dive deep into these principles and how they can transform your life too.

I'm going to share with you the 21 principles of success. These principles are what make the top

0:05.2

0.01% of people successful. Some of these principles are what I've used to make my first

0:10.7

million dollars at 27 years old. And others are from what I've observed rubbing shoulders with

0:15.7

some of the richest people you know. Now, I do attribute a lot of success in life to luck or grace of God and timing,

0:22.1

but there are principles you can implement every day to fast track this luck and attract wealth

0:26.8

into your life. So without further explaining it, these are the principles of success.

Welcome to the Martel method. I went from rehab at 17 to building a $100 million empire and being a Wall Street Journal bestselling author.

In this podcast, I'll show you exactly how to build a life and business you don't grow to hate. And make sure you don't miss anything by subscribing to my newsletter at Martel Method.com.

The first principle is to be misunderstood.

0:59.0

The other day I was talking to one of my clients and he said, my wife doesn't support my

1:03.9

growth.

1:04.3

And he got frustrated that every time he'd do something to try to grow, his wife said something.

1:09.6

He felt like she didn't support his growth.

1:12.3

And my feedback was very simple. The people closest to you are sometimes too close to see your

1:17.0

own greatness. And the reason why is because they know you the best and they've seen you try and

1:22.0

fail and say you're going to do something and don't follow through. They're literally the people

1:26.6

that have seen you at your worst. And now you're trying to grow and expand and you're upset that they don't support your growth. Jeff Bezos said it best. If you want to be successful, you have to go long periods of time being misunderstood. And the reason why is because if you know something, very few people know and you're trying to demonstrate progress and success. You'll go a long period

1:45.4

of time not being successful, not showing that you know how to do that. And expecting other people

1:50.0

to see what you see inside your mind is not going to work. So here's my big philosophy. This is what

1:54.1

I explained to my client. No one needs to change for you to win. Nobody. Sure, it'd be easier. It would

1:59.4

feel better. It wouldn't feel so lonely sometimes,

2:02.4

but nobody else has to do anything for me to win. That is my philosophy and my invitation to you.
