On September 10th, 1988, a man was born who would go on

to commit a devastating shooting. One that even today, the motivation isn't quite clear, and the

triggering moment remains a bit of a mystery. So if you like your coffee hot, but your bones chilled,

sit back and start your day with a morning cup of murder.

On January 8, 2011, at 10.10 a.m., a United States representative from Arizona named Gabrielle Giffords was standing in front of a Safeway supermarket in La Toscana Village Mall, just north of Tucson,

when a bullet was sent careening towards her head.

At the time, she was holding a constituent meeting that they called Congress in Your Corner,

and set up at a table, was surrounded by 20 to 30 different people.

On the store's security footage, which has never been released to the public but has been

described in the media, the shooter armed with a Glock 19 semi-automatic pistol with four

magazines capable of holding a total of 33 rounds, walked straight towards his target, Gabrielle Giffords,

and pulled out his weapon. A nearby store employee claimed he heard, quote, 15 to 20 gunshots.

The gunman stopped to reload, but the magazine then fell from his pocket.

That's when a bystander named Patricia Mesh, thinking incredibly quickly, snatched it up,

while another Roger Salzgeber, bravely clubbed the shooter on the back of the head with a folding

chair.
