On December 6th, 1865, the 13th Amendment was ratified after Georgia became the last state to approve it.

The brief amendment officially ended the practice of

slavery in the United States. Joining us in studio to discuss the history, meaning,

Jamal Green is Vice Dean and Professor of Law

He worked with Jennifer McMason Award of Notre Dame Law School to write about the 13th Amendment for the National Constitution Center's Interactive Constitution.
