Good morning. It is September the 3rd and thank you for spending your Labor Day Sunday morning with us.

I'm Ali Velshi. We begin today with a question we've been investigating here on Velshi for several weeks.

To start, let's go back 155 years to July 9th, 1868.

When two years after passing the Senate, the 14th Amendment to the Constitution was ratified

and with it, Section 3, which reads,

ineligible to be president again. Seems pretty straightforward. The question is how can that be

enforced? Well, we rarely invoked or tested in court. Section 3 of the 14th Amendment has recently

been used to remove someone from office,

and the case actually revolved around the January 6th insurrection.

In September of 2022, following a lawsuit by a group of New Mexico residents, Cui Griffin,

this guy right here, was ordered removed from his position as Otero County Commissioner

by a New Mexico state court judge

due to Griffin's participation in the insurrection. He was previously convicted and sentenced to
