Welcome back to Once Upon a Crime. This is part two of a two-part series, The Twelve Crimes of Christmas,

the murder of Lacey Peterson.

Yesterday, I released Part 1, in which I and my co-host, Yolanda Norris, from the Not Perfect

or Functional Podcast, began the discussion of the disappearance of Lacey Peterson from Modesto,

California on Christmas Eve, 2002. We went over a summary of the case, the suspicions the

police had from the beginning that caused them to consider her husband Scott as a suspect

and the timeline of the case. We also debunked some of the assertions that participants on the

A&E series the murder of Lacey Peterson made that pointed to Scott's innocence.

If you have not yet listened to Part 1, you're going to want to do that first before listening to the latest episode.

We'll pick it up from there. As we continue, we'll discuss some of the theories as to why this murder occurred.

As well, we will provide some details of Scott Peterson's background

and do a psychological study into why we think he decided to take the lives of his wife, Lacey,

Before we begin, I want to bring up one point of evidence that we didn't elaborate on last time,

but it was a big part of the prosecution's case.

That is the observation of the homemade anchor that investigators found in Scott Peterson's warehouse.

Only one anchor was found, but police believed that there was evidence that five anchors had been made.
