In 2004 Brent thought the only way to acquire real estate was to buy houses on the market, but that started disintegrating in 2008. When that happened, he switched to flipping from the foreclosure market. In 2013, he got into wholesaling by going out and knocking on doors in desirable neighborhoods. Then he realized he could drive around town and call people about the homes he saw, instead of calling for listings. It started as a side hustle and took a few years to transition, but over just a few years he went from making a couple hundred thousand a year to 750+.

Some big picture pointers:

Building the skills of effective communication makes you unstoppable.

Learn leadership-go out and lead, see how people respond, then change what you need to. Also, remember to watch the people that were a few steps ahead of you as a roadmap to follow.

Brent’s biggest tip for getting started:
Go find an ugly house, get the phone number, call them up, and ask them when they’re planning to sell their house. You’ll eventually get a deal. Typically, 1 of 100 calls will land a deal. It helps you build your confidence, and you’ll only move forward from there.
