Please support her work by grabbing a copy of Permission to Offend and, if you feel led, contributing to her family’s GoFundMe.   🎙️ Episode SummaryThis week’s episode is a loving and powerful nudge for every woman who’s ever whispered, “I should be grateful,” while quietly grieving the dream she hasn’t dared to pursue. Patrice shares a vulnerable and liberating look into her own journey of motherhood, ambition, and alignment—revealing how risking your reputation might be the key to finally living in your truth. Rooted in Chapter 7 of Rachel Luna’s Permission to Offend, this episode unpacks how the pressure to protect our reputation is the number one dream killer. Whether it's the reputation of being the “good mom,” “loyal wife,” “model employee,” or “humble servant,” we risk abandoning ourselves trying to maintain someone else’s image of us. But what if your true identity isn’t who they say you are—but who you know yourself to be? This is your permission slip to surrender the shoulds, release the labels, and reclaim your freedom.   💡Questions to Reflect on as You Listen: 💭 Where in your life are you protecting a reputation instead of honoring your identity? 💭 What “shoulds” are exhausting your soul and ready to be surrendered? 💭 If you were radically honest, what would you be doing differently right now? 💭 What freedom or joy might open up if you let go of what others think?   Resources Mentioned:  Permission to Offend | https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/permission-to-offend-rachel-luna/1141654795?ean=9780063112988 Rachel Luna’s Go Fund Me | https://www.gofundme.com/f/honoring-rachel-help-her-legacy-live-on Episode 420: Ready for Greatness with My Daughter, Reagan Washington | https://www.youtube.com/live/ptJcapOlNSQ?si=t0dstI56JseFarrJ RedefiningWealth.app   How to Redefine Wealth for Yourself 📱Download the FREE Redefining Wealth community app to connect with Purpose Chasers worldwide and experience daily LIVES with Patrice! https://redefiningwealth.app/  📊Take the Pillar Progress Assessment to discover where you are and what’s next on your journey. https://patricewashington.com/pillarassessment 🌟Join The Institute for Redefining Wealth — A 12-month experience to align your vision, protect your peace, and build a life you don’t have to escape from. https://redefiningwealth.institute

We talk about so many things under the sun, and we don't talk about how beholden we are to the reputation that other people have of us. Welcome to redefining wealth. Around here, we believe wealth has never just been about money.

alignment, and abundance. I'm Patrice Washington, your host, and my heart is to help you

protect your vision without sacrificing your soul. This season is extra special to me,

in honor of my dear friend, Rachel Luna, we're leaning into her legacy of permission to offend because living

authentically will sometimes mean choosing alignment over approval and having the courage to

step boldly into the abundant life you're being called to. Let's dive in together.

Welcome back. It's Patrice Washington. And around here, we don't just talk about wealth from the lens of money and material possessions. We talk about it from the original definition, the 12th century definition, which says it's about well-being and happiness. And I can tell you something that did not make me happy for many years.

1:36.7

When my daughter was little, I remember when people would insinuate that I was chasing the wrong dream.

1:40.8

They would say things like, don't you think you're gone too much?

1:43.5

Do you really need to be out on the road speaking?

1:45.3

Shouldn't you be baking cookies and volunteering at the school instead of trying to do all this other stuff you're doing?

1:50.8

And for me, even as I talk about it now, my daughter is 18 years old now, what I felt like at

1:57.3

that time was people were asking me to kill my dream of being America's Money

2:02.1

Maven so that I could fit into their version of what a good mom looks like. That's the thing

2:08.9

about reputation. It can become the number one dream killer because we are so busy and so

2:16.4

committed to protecting how people see us that we are willing to risk

2:21.7

losing who we actually are. And if it wasn't motherhood for you, maybe it's your reputation at work

2:27.8

or at church. Maybe people told you not to start that business because you would look foolish if you

failed. Or maybe it was friends and family saying you should stay humble instead of shining too bright.

Whatever the situation is, reputation has a way of crushing your dreams.
