I'm Kathy Maister. There are three ways to defrost this pound of ground beef.

Just leave it in the refrigerator, which is the safest way, but that'll take 24 hours.

In the sink, that'll take an hour or so.

Just wrap the beef in a totally leak-proof bag.

Submerge it in cool water and just let it sit there.

Change the water after 30 minutes.

Or in the microwave, that'll take about seven minutes. Remove it from its packaging and put it in a microwave safe dish, then cover it with plastic wrap.

Set your microwave to defrost or 30% power. After two and a half minutes, remove the dish from the microwave, then break apart and rotate
