I want to deviate just a little bit because I'm feeling like we need to tap in a little bit differently into a sense of power. I woke up this morning kind of struggling. I'll be very honest with you because the reality is I was watching what was happening last night in Congress as people were going back and forth and sort of debating things and trying to figure things out. And it was it was hard to see. It was hard to see because I realized at a certain point, these people are going to try to do what it is that they're going to try to do. And I had some challenges because one of the things that happens whenever you're watching the news and you're paying attention to what's going on is that it can be really frustrating to realize that despite the work that you're doing, you realize that people in power, sometimes

are just evil. Sometimes they're just evil and they're going to do terrible, evil, awful things.

1:32.8

And even though you know it's evil and they know it's evil, there is a benefit that they are

1:37.0

going to derive out of it. And frankly, they're more concerned about that benefit than they are

1:42.4

about doing the right thing. And it felt to me last night, and it's sort of a moment of overwhelmed that that was exactly what was happening. And last night, there was a lot of debate in Congress over the big bitch-ass bill. And basically in that debate, they were trying to not necessarily even get to the substance of the bill. When it came to the debate that what they were having in Congress, they were debating some of the procedure. I'm not even going to get into all the minutia. There were some procedural rules that had to be taken before they could actually get to this substantive matter of voting on this big bitch-ass bill that is going to do so many things. And I focus so much on how this bill is going to destroy health care. I forgot it's also going to destroy financial aid for college because it has provisions in it that basically say there are going to be two student loan repayment plans.

Either you pay the whole thing in 20 years or you pay the whole thing in 30 years, but they ain't no public interest programs.

2:26.5

There's no incentives for people to go into serving underprivileged communities and get benefits from student loans such that you would be able to pay at a better rate.

2:34.3

There's none of that.

2:35.0

2:41.0

They're stripping so many things.

2:42.1

And there are so many elements to this legislation that I have tried to squeeze into our discussions because it matters so much to so many people.

2:51.5

And those of you who know me know that no matter,

2:53.7

we may not agree on anything,

2:55.2

but you know I love my community.

2:57.1

I love my people,

2:58.2

even those of you who think I'm a tether.

3:00.0
