Sadly, perhaps, Linda also discovered that Christine's dorm mates didn't really know Christine either.

Oh, yeah. Oh, I knew Chris. She was down the hall where I was upstairs and I'd see her walking through or whatever.

She sure had nice clothes or she sure was pretty. And I go, yeah, you know, like, do you remember anything else about her?

I'd say, oh, I'm trying to get together a memory book, you know, that kind of thing.

She hadn't touched enough lives. So then I started sitting on the church.

In Madison, Christine belonged to the First Church of Christ's Scientist on Wisconsin Avenue.

So Linda paid them a visit, too.

And I started talking to people that were in her Sunday school class, people who, I think they're called elders at the church in that.

And I would feign a little interest in the religion.

I'd say, oh, Chris, do you remember her?

You know, she mentioned this religion to me, and I'm just looking.

I was trying any kind of, any kind of device I could use to just get myself into a situation.

And people would say, like, yeah, she was very nice or always very kind or so sweet or always very friendly and

whatever. And I go, yeah, you know, I'm really trying to find some good recollections of her

because, you know, precious moments for her family or for myself as, as one of her friends.

And it was all kind of like, like in the clouds or something to me. There was nothing, nothing of substance to me.

Linda also spoke with various young men who had gone on dates with Christine.

She said, oh, yeah, she was always so sweet and she was never jealous.

Or, you know, she'd encourage me to get a girlfriend or introduce me to a somebody she knew and say, you know, he's a nice guy, you know, you might have something in common to go dancing with or whatever, because Chris loved to dance at the church dances and that.
