Hey, happy Thanksgiving, everyone. So today's a little bit of a mile marker at the bookpile,

as this is the first episode recorded on my iPhone 8 while lying in bed. Kellan and I took this week

off to celebrate Thanksgiving. He ate turkey.

I just sort of watched him eat it and judged him. He pretended not to see me. I guilted him by making

sad turkey noises. It was great. But we'll be back next week with our live roast of Angels and

Demons. In the meantime, here is a mini, mini episode for you. And it is Dave only. So just to spite Kellan, I'm going to laugh so

hard at every joke. All right, here we go. People are always asking me, Dave, what books do you

recommend? And that's the wrong question. The right question is, Dave, what books do you always

recommend to people and they never like them?

And it makes you sad, so you keep recommending them as the cycle repeats and you get sadder and

sadder. That is a great question. So here are my top five least successful book recommendations.

Number five is Watchman. I chose this for book club one year and my friend

Jenny said, quote, it's like Justice League if they were all asses. Number four, the spy who came in

from the cold. I tell people it's my favorite spy book because it's so dark and cerebral and British

and full of moral ambiguity and people say, yeah, that's not why I read

spy books.

Number three, the three body problem.

Okay, you know that old psych experiment where they had people pretend like they were getting

shocked.

These books are my favorite sci-fi of all time, and sometimes I feel like I'm in an experiment

where they told all my friends, pretend these books are garbage.

Number two, the Neapolitan novels. I'm obsessed with these books. There are so many people I want to be
