Thanksgiving is not just a holiday.

As we study the scriptures with Scott Pauley today,

we pray that God will help us learn how to develop grateful hearts and hopes.

Are you a grateful person?

Dr. Bob Jones Sr. used to say that when gratitude dies on the altar of a man's heart, he is well nigh gone.

Well, may I say to you, when gratitude dies on the family altar, that family is well nigh gone.

When gratitude dies on the altar of our churches, our churches are well nigh gone,

because gratitude is at the very heart of our relationship with the Lord. When we fail to be

grateful people, what it means is that we don't have God in his rightful place in our life. Gratitude is at

the heart of every good thing in life. The reverse of that is also true. In gratitude is at the heart of every evil thing. For example,

do you remember when Eve first sinned against the Lord? Do you remember where all of that began?

Satan began by getting her to question the goodness of God.

Romans chapter 1 in verse number 21 says that one of the marks of a reprobate culture is not just immorality, it's unthankfulness.

2 Timothy chapter 3 in verse number 2 talks about one of the marks of the last days is that people would not be thankful.

Well that's the day and age we're living in. This is an ungrateful culture.

And the sad reality is that ingratitude is not only evident in our world,

it's evident in our own hearts and in our own homes.
