Summary

Darin Ishimatsu eulogizes his mother and lifelong teacher Carole. As a shy and reserved boy, Carole’s energy and enthusiasm brought out the very best in her son. She always pursued the finest the world had to offer whether it was food, coffee, museums or symphonies. Carole was a lady who was full of spunk, had strong opinions and gave so much of herself to her beloved students and family.

0:55.7	Says hello Kelly. My wife has been a long time fan of your podcast. I have overheard many
1:00.4	episodes in the car or when my wife is in the kitchen. And I've always found your podcast
1:05.0	interesting and thoughtful. Of course, when left to make my own choices, I'm usually listening to
1:09.9	my mindless sports podcasts. This all changed a few weeks ago. My mother Carol died a year ago and
1:16.0	our family had planned to have the celebration of life this summer. I had the daunting task of
1:20.9	trying to write a eulogy. How does one write about someone that encompassed everything?
1:26.8	My wife mentioned that your podcast had been doing special episodes called Thanks for Being
1:30.7	Here where you read eulogies from listeners. We listened to a few together and then I privately
1:35.0	listened to all of them on my own. I found them very moving and full of perspective. In addition,
1:40.9	they guided and inspired me to write my eulogy. Even though it's not great writing, I want to
1:46.0	share my eulogy with you as a way of saying thanks for being here. So thanks for being here.
