Amy Zuckerman shares a remembrance of her late father Harry “Wes” Westlund. Wes was a special man whose dream of becoming an Air Force fighter pilot was taken away just days before he was to receive his wings, due to a heart murmur. Amy says that although her dad lived his entire life under the threat of a heart defect, he had no issues at all with his capital “H” heart. He was a loving, caring and kind man who made all around him feel comfortable and welcome. 0:56.8	affect one another immediately brought to mind my father's death in 2018. His body had been
1:02.7	slowly failing for years. So even though he had recently entered a residential care facility,
1:08.6	mom urged us to go ahead with a planned vacation back east to visit my husband's family.
1:13.8	We were to attend a cousin's wedding travel with my brother-in-law and his wife and three children
1:18.1	and celebrate my father-in-law's 80th birthday. His fate would have it my father died while
1:22.8	I was on the opposite side of the continent. He died late on a Sunday. My brother called me early
1:28.0	Monday morning from Oregon. We weren't scheduled to fly home until Thursday. We made the difficult
1:33.6	decision to sit on this news so as not to spoil our children's visit with their cousins
1:38.4	or overshadow my father-in-law's own very special occasion. Four days later I finally broke the
1:45.0	news publicly on Facebook. Writing, it was a little too easy to carry on in that magical space
1:51.6	where everything was still okay and the access of my world hadn't shifted irreparably.
1:56.6	Time is standing still while simultaneously racing forward. We told the kids last night while
2:02.2	they were in that groggy jet lag just woke up after falling asleep on the car ride home haze.
