The Lord be with you.

A reading from the Holy Gospel is written to us by John.

Since it's a little longer gospel,

and I'm basically going to comment as we go through it, why don't you sit down?

And Altor boys you can sit down to you.

I know we're changing the rules.

There's so much to say here and I want you to catch it in the text itself. At that time Jesus revealed himself to his disciples

at the Sea of Tiberias. Now, already there, there's something significant.

Yet it had always been called the Sea of Galilee.

But once the Romans took over, they renamed it

in honor of their emperor. So we know they're a colonized

people. It's now the Sea of Tiberius. But they pass over that. They've come to accept their inevitable fate.

And he revealed himself in this way. Together there were Simon Peter, Thomas Caldidimus, Nathaniel from

Cana in Galilei, Zebedi Sons, and two others of his disciples.

Simon Peter said to him, I'm going fishing.

I must be consoling to many of you to know that this whole story begins in most ordinary circumstances.

It's not in an office building, not in a castle, not in a

a fortress but with men who are going fishing.

That's good.

Because that's where the big things happen in ordinary life but only if you're paying attention.
