Heck of a season by the Texas Longhorns, but they end up going down, losing to Washington

I'm Pete Mundo on Heartland College Sports.

Of course, that means the Big 12 football season is officially over.

Heck of a year by Texas.

But let's be honest.

We said it in the preview show.

If Washington could take advantage of Texas's biggest and arguably their only weakness,

the secondary, they were going to win the game.

Now, I thought with a month to prepare, Steve Sarkesian would figure out

what to do with the secondary, but didn't happen. So Washington gets the win. They're going

to the Natty. They're playing Michigan in a future all big 10, weird to say, but true,

college football playoff championship game on Monday night.

But for Texas in this game, there's a couple of takeaways that I want to touch on

before we get to what all this means for the Big 12 and where the Big 12 goes from here.

The weakness for Texas was never able to be exploited by anybody in the Big 12th outside of Oklahoma.

Think about that.

The best offense, the best passing offense that Texas saw all season,

they lost to both of those teams, Washington and Oklahoma.

The Texas secondary was limited all season.

If you had the offensive game plan and the weapons to take advantage, you had a chance.
