Praise God, let's turn over to John, chapter 3,

and like I said, last night I started teaching on what prayer is not. This is the approach that Jesus took in

Matthew chapter six and he started off by saying don't when pray, don't be like the hypocrites.

They love to pray and they think they're going to be heard for their much speaking.

They stand on street corners so that people could give them praise and on and on and they use vain repetitions. We talked against all of that

stuff last night. What I want to do today is to talk about what prayer is and this may surprise you. You know a lot of people I would think if you

just ask the average person out on the street what's prayer all about? Most

people would say something about it so that you can make your request known to God, so that you can pray and God can give you something so that you can receive.

And that's a part of it. The Bible says in James Chapter 4, you have not because you ask not.

And so it is appropriate to ask. He even told us, ask and believe that you receive when you pray. So asking is a part of prayer.

But let me just present it to you this way. What did Adam and Eve do when they talk to

God in the cool of the evening, Genesis chapter 3, verse 8.

God meant with them before they sin.

How did they commune with God?

What was their prayer time about?

They didn't have sins to confess.

They didn't have anything to ask for.

They didn't need clothes.

They didn't need food. They didn't need food. They didn't need the temperature fix. They didn't need to be healed of any hurts and pains.
