Tonight, Texas Children's Hospital has reached a major settlement with the state of Texas.

It all started when the hospital publicly announced in 2022 that it was stopping all gender-affirming care on minors.

But a courageous whistleblower, a surgeon at the hospital,

claimed they were secretly continuing to do those treatments on patients as young as 11 years old.

Now, Texas officially banned gender-affirming medical care for minors in

23 under Senate Bill 14.

Texas Children's Hospital has now agreed to pay $10 million,

fire some of the doctors involved in those questionable treatments,

and open what's being called the nation's first detransition clinic. Now, we spoke to the whistleblower who brought the truth

to the surface when he first revealed himself. Dr. Etonheim. He was a surgeon at Texas General, and he joins us again tonight

to discuss this latest development, which is really monumental. Doctor, it's so good to talk to you again.

Well, let's talk about this.

Were you surprised at the settlement?

You know, to say I was surprised would be the understatement of the century.

I mean, this is something that I could have never even fathomed when this was all happening,

because when I blew the whistle anonymously on May

16th, 2023, SB 14 was passed one day later, the Texas Attorney General's office announced

an investigation two days later.

And everything happened in between where they tried to send me to prison for 10 years based on a fabricated crime.

But, you know, two, you know, two weeks ago, week and a half ago, you know, on May 15th, pretty much three years to the day after I blew the whistle, they announced the biggest healthcare fraud settlement in the history

of pediatric medicine because it's important for people to know that healthcare fraud in pediatric
