Have you noticed that Mazda is changing their customers without changing their

price? Yes indeed they are going more luxury and upscales. Matter of fact you and I

have compared Mazda's two Mercedes-Benz's of all cars. It feels like that's

their target. The great is look at the back of this. This is the Mazda 3 sky

active turbo all-wheel drive hatchback. The badges on the back of the car

reflect all of those things. Yes there's many badges that tell you exactly what

it is and Mazda is very proud of the turbo and they should be because

customers have been wanting more power like us. It's the same two and a half

liter sky active turbo they put in the rest of their lineup including all the

way up to their big boy CX-9 7-C. This is that engine in this little car. It's

about 3,400 pounds which the CX-9 is not by the way but it's that same 250

horsepower 320 pound feet of torque in a 3,400 pound car that is possibly the

biggest torque number of any of its competitors. I think it actually is the

biggest torque number. I think so too in a hatch that quite frankly has been

upscaled for a while. We've noticed the materials and the driving position and

the way it drives to feel more exotic and more expensive than it really should

be. The Mazda 3 in this current generation is a car we've driven in almost

every four. This is actually the first time we've been in the hatchback what we've

driven it is all-wheel drive a couple of times. It is the revised version where

they took away the independent rear suspension and it now torsion beam rear and

we've talked about on-road elevation before that I think it took away a little

bit of the handling prowess of this chassis but they haven't had Mazda
