What is this? This is the Honda Civic Si, the 2022 Honda Civic Si. This is the 11th Gen Civic. Very exciting.

0:08.0

It is exciting actually because this one is re-styled. Let's put it that way. You want to start there, do you?

0:13.0

Not really. What I want to start with is the fact that in general Honda listens. They do.

0:18.0

Honda pays attention to what all their fans say and they try to solve things. This handles so well.

0:24.0

Why does this handle this well? For wheel drive, limited slip diff, but it just does good stuff.

0:32.0

Well, this car actually has five less horsepower than the prior gen. Down to 200 horsepower, but still the same amount of torque.

0:39.0

But the torque comes on earlier and it's far more progressive throughout the range. It's not just the flat toe.

0:45.0

It actually rolls on as you're rolling on, which is excellent. It changes the dynamics of the car. It changes the character.

0:52.0

Well, it's a tiny little 1.5 liter engine. That turbo shouldn't be good. Now it does have a little bit of lag, but it's got surprising amounts of power.

0:59.0

And they also tune it for the horsepower to be climbing all the way almost to red line versus dying halfway through the red band, which is pretty common with these small little turbos.

1:07.0

Like that you're chucking this in. You can. That's the thing about it. It's so precise and it handles mid corner corrections very well.

1:15.0

It's not true. That was close. It was close. Wow. It's not just a front wheel drive that has understeer, because of course you can make it understeer.

1:22.0

No limited slip diff will fully solve that. Sure. Sure. But mid corner, you can make little corrections and refine what it's doing without it all just falling apart.

1:31.0

They stiffened everything. Yep. They've worked hard on this car. And they've also worked hard to keep the price down, because this is under $29,000.

1:39.0

We've got the fully loaded SI, including the performance tires that's only $200 extra.

1:44.0

It's been 200 bucks. I noticed that as we've been driving this car, you can drive it harder, and you're still not really finding the limits.

1:52.0

Whereas some cars you find it, if there it is, no further that kind of scared me. It scared the car. We're done.

2:01.0

But this one just encourages you to keep finding it. I don't remember us trucking in the last Civic SI this hard.

2:08.0

I don't think as well. I agree with that. I do think that the ride has been compromised a little bit. I don't think the ride is as good as the prior Civic SI.

2:15.0

No, it's for all of our own. But at the same time, roll bars, springs all around.

2:20.0

But if you're willing to accept that sportier ride, there's nothing but composure here. It's really well composed.

2:27.0

It's just stiff for your typical commute car, but it's not trying to be your typical commute car.
