We'll start with a Reuters report that dropped in a few moments ago, which says that

Tesla's Berlin factory will close its doors for two weeks from the end of January to February

the 11th because of component shortages. These are caused by disruptions in the Red Sea and supply chains.

The crisis in the Red Sea triggered by attacks on ships by Iranian-backed Houthi militants,

that's in the news today here in the UK about whether the UK government will respond militarily

is impacting Europe's largest economy and Tesla are feeling the pain.

Tesla is the first company to publicly announce production interruption because of disruptions. Other companies like

Gile and IKEA reporting delays, the conflict has led to shifts in transport routes, affecting the

Sewers Canal, a key maritime path for the Asia and European trade routes. Tesla specifically

mentioned longer transportation times from Asia, China, as a significant factor.

Now, Tesla is reliant on the Chinese battery components, which are transported through the Red Sea,

as a vulnerability in their supply chain and the situations compounded by the ongoing

labor dispute with the Swedish trade union,
