Last summer, my in-laws moved into a new house. This house is over 200 years old and is one of

the original houses in the neighborhood. When my in-laws were buying the

house, I would joke with them that it's haunted. Last April, while they were away, my wife and I would

go over to let their dogs out and feed them. While over there at night, I would get a weird,

creepy feeling like I wasn't alone.

One particular evening, when I went to let the dogs out, I noticed that the porch light was on.

It's not one of those automatic lights, and no one else had been over there that day, and I definitely was not the one that turned it on.

In my head, I was thinking it could have been one of the pets, the mischievous cat perhaps.

However, he had never done this before or since.

And the other thing is, the switch is in an awkward position above the couch, making it hard to reach.

The dogs definitely wouldn't have been able to get to it, and the cat would have had to jump

or stretch up and hit the switch. It's unlikely, but it is probable.

What happened a few nights later is the experience that terrified me the most, though.
