Summary

On the February 29, 2024 episode of /Film Daily, /Film editor Ben Pearson is joined by /Film staff writer and box office analyst Ryan Scott to talk about some of their favorite sci-fi sequels.

Opening Banter: Full disclosure, this episode might be chaotic. I had several plans for a themed Leap Day episode, and every single one of them ended up falling through, leaving me scrambling to come up with something to do at the last minute. But Ryan suggested we talk about some of our favorite sci-fi sequels in honor of Dune: Part Two, and since that movie actually does seem big enough to justify multiple episodes about it (or at least episodes that are ostensibly related to it), that sounded like a good idea to me.

episode today by the way happy leap day Ryan. Every single one of my plans ended up falling through. So I was really scrambling to come up with something at the very last minute to do here for the podcast today.

0:39.0

And you suggested that we talk about some of our favorite SciFi sequels in honor of Dune Part 2, which opens technically tonight.

0:46.2

And since that movie actually does seem, you know, like big enough to justify multiple episodes about it

0:52.6

or at least like episodes that are ostensibly related to it.

0:55.7

That sounds like a pretty good idea.

0:56.8

So yeah, this is going to be kind of a free-flowing conversation,

1:00.1

I think, a little bit of very little structure here but let's try to I don't know just

1:05.1

run through some of our favorite sci-fi sequels in honor of Doom 2 and talk about why we like them so much so

1:10.9

why don't you kick things off what is one that you want to talk about first?

1:14.9

For sure. I will just say, part of the reason that I suggested this is that for anyone who, I know a lot of people are like, I don't to read anything I'm going to go see doing too I don't want anything spoiled you know people want to go in fresh for this movie

1:27.8

But a lot of the early reactions in critical praise has been like among the best sci-fi sequels ever made.

1:34.2

So you know like it is very effusive the praise.

1:38.1

So I just thought like hey let's you know.

1:40.0
