Historian and interpreter Nicole Brown is giving me a tour of Colonel John Chisles home on East Francis Street in Williamsburg.

There are large bedrooms, many, many ornate fireplaces, and several outdoor buildings where enslaved people once toiled.

Nicole says that Chisels' house was the epitome of Gentry Wealth in Colonial Virginia.
