Ten people have died and 35 injured, after a pickup truck drives into a crowd in the US city of New Orleans.

As we record this broadcast at lunchtime on New Year's Day, the U.S. City of New Orleans has

reported that 10 people have been killed and more than 30 injured after a pickup truck drove

into crowd celebrating New Year. It occurred on a popular nightlife strip in the French quarter.

The New Orleans Police Department said the attacker was hell-bent on creating the carnage

and the damage that it did, and it's now working alongside the FBI.

Speaking at a press conference,

confirmed the incident was not an accident.
