It was a cold January night in Northern Michigan.

I had just gotten done skiing and I could kind of feel myself getting sick.

My nose was running, I had exposed myself to the cold for hours on end and I don't think

the overly happy beers at the pub helped afterward.

Unfortunately I could only drink about a beer and a half before I had to excuse myself

to go home.

It was just one of those nights and I didn't want to change out of my long underwear to

go to bed that I was so cold.

It was around 10 pm and I sat there shivering wondering what I could possibly do to make

myself feel better.

And then the idea popped into my head.

A hot toddy.

At this point I was very much a hot toddy novice.

I had never really made one before.

If anything, it sounded like something out of a Christmas song that I don't actually drink.

And truthfully, I didn't even really know what was in it, I just heard rumors about them.

After a quick Google search, I checked to see if I had all the ingredients in my house.

Makers Mark, check.

Locohoney, check.

Lemon juice, check.
