So, bismillah, al-hambhallah, and sallat and al-a-shajahab by Allahe and hishavi-whiwam and we're going to be doing.

We're going to be jumping straight into the issue of Islamic Theodicy.

So we've set up the equation, we've set up the situation, the history of the Odyssey,

some of the main ways that other groups, the various sects within Islam have attempted

to solve it. And now I want to get practical. I want to give you specific concepts and ideas

that will help us in our daily life grapple with the issue of pain and suffering, the issue of evil.

So we're going to begin.

It's going to be a two-part, unfortunately, because time is limited.

We're getting shorter and shorter in time because of the sala timings.

So what I'm going to do today, I'm going to start off presenting various models of Islamic theology.

And these models are not contradictory. They're complementary. There's some overlap.

Okay. So I'm going to give you wisdoms, specific wisdoms that we can derive from the Quran, from the Sunnah, from our tradition,

about how we grapple with the problem of pain, of suffering of evil.

But before we begin, remember I had mentioned that Muslims can only fully find comfort in Islamic theodicy

if they began on the supposition of tassim of submission to Allah.

If you begin on the arrogance of I need to understand, if you begin with the idea that everything needs to make sense to me, you will never find comfort. So before I jump into

Islamic Theodicy, what are some key fundamental theological aspects that we must bear in

mind as we study Theodicy? We're going to start off with five. Five principles that as Muslims, before

we jump into the issue of understanding evil, let us lay the foundation of our imam. Let us build

a solid foundation of faith in Allah and then we proceed to understand pain and suffering and of course
