Welcome to our rosary. I'm Dr. Troy Hinkle. I am back in Baton Rouge.

Actually, I'm in Denham Springs, Immaculate Conception Parish, and with some on-fire people, and we're ready to pray the rosary.

So let us call to mind that we're ever in the presence of Almighty God in whom we live and move and have our being.

We call upon him in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

This rosary is offered up for all of our prayer petitions, especially for those members here,

for all the petitions sent in and for those Catholics and Christians and people in the world

When I first started to study and understand virtue, I remember thinking, this sounds like too much work. Virtue is a chore. How could I ever become a

great saint? Studying the virtues is challenging. Living them is more so, because we assume that our

starting point is also the ending point. Beginning anything good is always

difficult at first. Whether it's 30 minutes of meditation each day, frequenting mass or reconciliation,

or any other holy habit. It can also easily feel like weights on my life and limits to my freedom.

We are like the rich young man in the Gospels.

We sense that the rules are not enough.

We want more.

Sometimes we need some motivation to seek it.

Well, that more is found in Jesus, in eternal happiness with

Him. Temperance, like all virtues, requires strength and effort. However, as our love of God

increases, it does get easier. As we work for the good desires, our desires for the good grows.

We must choose to seek the good, and that's what makes it easier, along with Jesus' grace.
