The theme of the show became, you can't just attack a candidate, Kamala in this case.

You can't just attack her with a name because that's mean. And you can't just

rattle off a bunch of policy because that's not enough. You need to name the policies,

which then tell a story about Kamala's character as a leader, not character in their life,

but a character is a leader and a commander in chief. Are you with me on the difference?

If you just say a name, people are like, oh, that's me and they get turned off. If you just say

a policy, it's over people's head. They don't know what it means. But if you name a policy

that then connects to the character,

well, now you're telling a story. We gave some practical political examples on the show today.

And I referenced this video that I saw a while back. And I found it. Here's, these are the

two creators of South Park. And they're talking to a classroom about how to tell a story.

This really simple rule that maybe you guys have all heard before, but it took us a long time to

learn it. But we can take these beats, which are basically the beats of your outline,

and if the words and then belong between those beats, you got something pretty boring.

What should happen between every

beat that you've written down is either the word therefore or but. Right. So what I'm saying is

that you come up with an idea and it's like, okay, this happens, right? And then this happens. No,

no, no. It should be this happens and therefore this happens. But this happens, therefore this happens. And that, as soon as we are able to, and literally sometimes we'll write it out to make sure we're doing it, we'll have our beats and we'll say, okay, this happened, but then this happens, and that affects this, and that does to that. And that's why you get a show that feels like, okay, this to that, to this to that, but this, here's the complication to that. And there's so many scripts we read from new writers and things that we see. I see movies. Yeah. You see movies that you're just watching. It's like, this happened and then this happens and then this happens. That's when you're in a movie. just am I watching this movie for it. Just like this happened and then this happened and this happened. That's not a movie, you know, that's not a story. Like Trace said, it's those two but because therefore that gives you the causation between each beat and that makes that that that's a story. So we need to do that with politics as well. You gotta tell a story story. Here's the policy and here's what it says. Therefore, here's what it says about this person, in this case, Kamala Harris.
