Summary

Jerusalem Post military correspondent Yonah Jeremy Bob, co-author of Target Tehran: How Israel Is Using Sabotage, Cyberwarfare, Assassination—and Secret Diplomacy—to Stop a Nuclear Iran and Create a New Middle East, explains how Israel coordinated hundreds of strikes and infiltrations across Iran, what the U.S. MOP strike on Fordow actually accomplished, and why Netanyahu’s longtime caution gave way to a high-stakes gamble. He also delves into internal Israeli debates over assassinating Khamenei, the strategy behind targeting Iran’s domestic enforcers, and why the Iranian nuclear threat is now both diminished and more unpredictable Plus: Mamdani’s cheerful radicalism, Cuomo’s glower, and a reminder that aspirational politics can veer into Theranos territory. It's Tuesday, June 24th, 2025 from Peachfish Productions. It's the gist. I'm Mike Peska.

0:10.0

And if it weren't, for Zoran Mamdani's ideas, I would definitely vote for him. Well, it'd be fair,

0:16.5

not just his ideas, but his ideology. You know, that's the word we use when ideas become rigid, pre-packaged, maybe not necessarily

0:24.6

one's own, but mostly I'll be fair and say it's his ideas.

0:28.6

Zoran Mamdani, who is right now, if the polls are to be believed, and if the prediction

0:33.6

markets are to be believed, likely the Democratic nominee for mayor of New York,

0:39.8

he's a great candidate.

0:41.2

He smiles winningly.

0:42.5

He engages with people.

0:44.0

And this is really important.

0:45.5

He makes potential voters happy and excited.

0:48.7

And he doesn't do it by appealing to their worst instincts.

0:51.6

He's been far more engaging in every sense of the word than his rival Andrew Cuomo.

0:57.1

But then there are Mamdani's ideas, what he'd actually do or says he would do, because

1:02.1

don't worry, I think what he'd actually do is much, much less than what he says he would do,

1:06.7

but what he says he would do is also a little bit concerning.

1:09.5

So the three big ones are a rent

1:11.5

freeze, free grocery stores in every borough and free buses, respectively, bad, terrible economic

1:17.8

policy, a never successful anywhere policy and a policy that might work, but would be very,

1:23.8

very expensive, and I'm not sure it's worth the cost. I say you can give the third one

1:28.4

a try, the buses, see what happens. He has a slew of other policies, which, as I said in my chat

1:34.5

with Ross Barkin, Politico estimates, would cost 20 times as much as Bill de Blasio's signature,
