He is a glaciologist who has helped unravel the mysteries of Earth's frozen territories.

As a senior research scientist at the University of Colorado Boulder's Earth Science Observation Center,

Ted investigates the dynamic environments of ice sheets, glaciers, and sea ice. Ted earned his

PhD in geology from the University of Colorado in 1991. His career has focused on understanding climate change impacts on

ice in the Arctic. He has gone to Antarctica over 19 times and brave the harshest conditions to

collect measurements on remote glaciers. Ted currently leads the science coordination office for the International Twadies Glacier Collaboration,

a major multinational effort to assess the stability of that glacier.

He also co-directs the Tarsan Project, creating advanced radar maps of hidden and Arctic terrain.

Ted has published over 150 articles on cryosphere topics from glaciology to paleo-climate records in ice cores.
