All right, Audrey, so I'm pretty pumped up about tonight's episode because a few weeks ago, we were both on location at the Facebook Reality Labs open house.

We did bring the old MFU, the mobile field unit, on with us because we went to grab an interview with Chuck Hoover, who runs the lab, in order to just get a little more taste as for what's going on there and how they plan to grow and learn more about what they're doing.

And we're going to have that as our first segment tonight.

But what really got my attention at the event was, so you were part of this press panel that was going on where they had media and they're kind of asking about what's going on with Pittsburgh's technology sector and that everyone thinks it's, of course, it's very cool that there's

companies like Facebook and Google and Duolingo that are expanding in the city.

But what's been coming up a lot and what you've been talking a lot about, ever since you've

been at the Tech Council for the past 12 years, is how do we get more diversity across our technology sector?

I know it's always been near and dear to your heart.

Listen, it's on everyone's mind, right?

Everyone is talking about it, and everyone is saying, you know, where did we go wrong?

You know, we could look backwards all we want.

And there's lots of academic theories,

and there's lots of behaviors that many of us have displayed over time.

Many of us were just heads down trying to do work,

and when we recruit people, we just look in a certain sphere.

You got the skills? You're in, right. Yeah, exactly.

And now, you know, we're really looking at ourselves from a societal impact and saying, you know, wait, we can't have a bifurcated community. That's one of the things I love about Pittsburgh is that we can have these conversations and say the grit, the working class, was the most pivotal piece of Pittsburgh. I like that. So when you have, so we talk about

internships, right? There's this whole, you know, term of, I mean, that was your first response to some

of the questions from the reporters. Right. It was around that what we're doing, what everyone should be

doing is really investing in interns, not just interns, but interns at all grade levels.

Right.

So, yeah, I mean, since I've been at the tech council, I've brought in a lot of high school
