Summary
The Monaco Grand Prix provides F1 drivers with a unique challenge, but they'll have one less thing to think about this year after the FIA decided that there will be no straight mode zones in the Principality, and hence no opportunity to use the active front and rear wings that are a feature of the 2026 regulations. Is that the right call? One man who doesn't think so is former F1 technical director Gary Anderson, who explains why to Edd Straw in the latest edition of The Race F1 Tech Show.
Edd and Gary also discuss the implementation of the 'Rev 1' engine map for this weekend, explaining what it is and why it's being used, plus there's a wider look at the unique engineering challenge that Monaco provides compared to other circuits.
And, as ever, we round off the episode with our listener questions section, in which Gary tackles questions on Ferrari's curious engine smoke, car ballast, the purpose of ADUO and limiting outwash.

| 0:55.6 | So, yeah, it's changed a lot during the years, I have to say, probably for the better, but it's a lot different. |
| 1:02.2 | It's still kind of the same character of a circuit, but, you know, it used to be, I would just say, more dangerous, I suppose you might call it. |
| 1:12.9 | It's got a bit tamer lately. |

| 1:25.7 | What circuit do you want to go on? |
| 1:27.3 | That would be Monaco. Because it's just a lovely place to drive around. I've actually had a go in a Formula One car when I worked at Brabham back in the 70s and we had a misfire after the morning warm-up. And Bernie said to me, you know, you had to drive it back half a lap and up to three the casino square and back back down the hill it before the tunnel and instead of turning right into the tunnel you turned left and that's where the sort of allings were with the trucks and I had sort of authorization for Mr. Eccleston to give it some welly to see if we'd fix the misfire because the next time it was going to be out there was in the race. |
| 2:06.7 | So there's a few pictures of me going up the hell, no helmet on, no nothing, hair streaming backwards. |
| 2:10.1 | And yeah, a bit of excitement I must have met. |
| 2:13.5 | It's an impressive place. |
| 2:16.4 | Lovely to go there and lovely to drive around around an absolute pain of the butt as a circuit |
| 2:19.3 | to work at but you know you have to put up with some of these things yeah very very slightly |
| 2:24.9 | easier perhaps than it used to be given that they've got the proper pits and everything's not |
