Happy birthday, Mom.

Hey, there's a great way to start the week and to start the podcast on this hot Monday.

I hope you had a great weekend,

and I'm looking forward to seeing my mom later today. I'm going to spend a little time with her.

I'll finally get a chance to take her something really sweet. She loves sweets. I don't know exactly what it will be, but I'm going to take something by. She's going to enjoy on this Monday

afternoon or early evening, and we wish her the very best.

As another birthday has come and gone, my mom's birthday for most of her life was August 28.

And then, I don't know, maybe 20 years ago, at some point she had to find a birth certificate or get a new birth certificate to travel or go on a cruise or something she was doing.

And she went and got a new copy of the birth certificate.

She didn't have one or didn't know where hers was.

And when the state of Kansas printed it out, her birthday is August 29th, not 28th.

So they celebrated most of her life and told her the wrong day,

which was her birthday. I'm guessing back then the records weren't quite as good as they are today,

or people didn't take as much note when you had as many kids in your family as they did.

The birthdays probably weren't that big of a deal. There would be one every month in that giant family.

There was always a birthday taking place.

The other thing she told me yesterday when I spoke on the phone with her that I did not know until yesterday was her middle name is Anne.

It's always been Ann, which is kind of interesting because Jessica's middle name is also Ann.

And she told me the story, and she would have known this for years and it's never come up.
