The plot thickens in the AI Wars.

It is Friday which means it's time for Marketplace TechBites week in review.

On the show Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is calling for a slew of new spending on AI R&D. We'll look at where some $32 billion in

proposed annual spending is likely to go. And some of the biggest players in AI

tried to outdo one another this week.

Open AI announced it's giving chat gp T an upgrade and a personality,

while Google tries to remake search with its AI model, Gemini. The information's Anita Ramaswami explained what that will look like.

Typically, you know, most people who use Google are used to seeing what what people refer to is just 8 to 10 blue links on that home page.

And what AI is going to do is take all of those links and try its best to summarize the useful

content in them and it'll appear in a little preview at the top of your Google search.

So it'll be a bit of a summary but obviously that's open to a lot of subjectivity, you know, what information is actually important?
