Why did you read?

Yeah.

So I was a third grade teacher before I started law school and very distinctly I remember one day

my third grade students and I had to talk about what we would do if an armed intruder entered

the school building which is not something that I had to think about when I was in

third grade and that really really frustrated me and then you know like a week

later we had to talk about climate change which was a very insightful

conversation and I love hearing what eight- olds have to share about that or even what happened last summer when clearly our nation is still in need to address its history of racial injustice and I just realized there is so much that we need

from our local leaders and I felt on a local level I could actually get something

done and I would be a viable candidate.

So I feel like that I want to hone in on this idea of local politics because I feel like people often feel either elated or frustrated

exclusively about things that are happening at the national level.

What in your mind was the draw to getting involved at a much more like local apart from the principal, Catholic principal, subsidiarity, obviously.

Huge. Huge, yeah. Huge subsidiarity fan? Yes, absolutely. Well, I think, and I think it's a funny statement because I think it would get a lot of approval

both sides of the aisle, but if you were to ask like is government

working right now it'd be a pretty unanimous like no absolutely not which why I

think on the local level we really need government to work very efficiently and meaningfully so people trust that.

So I was really interested in the local level because I felt like it's so important to

rebuilding that sense of trust in government.
