So facticity, the fact that we are cast into a world not of our own making, and that we

busy ourselves with little irrelevant things, that's a given.

The second element in existence is existentiality.

And this idea entails appropriating the world for our own purposes.

We take knowledge, we take objects, we take food, we take things of utility to us, and we manipulate them in practical ways.

Practical utility, it's a very pragmatic sense of how human beings interact with the world around them.

And the final quality of human being, particularly this pre-reflective quality, is the quality of, in German it's fairfallen, but the best translation

in English is probably something like forfeiture.

There's something wrong with us.

There's a sort of radical deprivation of the human condition as it starts.
