I just want to bring up a study from 2017 that is just, I mean,

that I think many of our listeners will probably appreciate,

which is called The Company You Keep is socializing with higher status people bad for mental health.

I love this one.

This is from the Journal of Sociology of Health and Illness, again from 2017.

And, you know, I'm not going to go too deeply into this, but the, the thrust of their argument,

which,

um,

specifically is do people with quote unquote lower status,

who have friendships or social relationships of some kind,

with people who are quote unquote higher status,

do they materially benefit from that? I mean, they don't use that word, but do they, you know, do they benefit from it in some

way? How does it make them feel about themselves? And what they essentially say, the whole point

of this paper is to say, again, 2017, people who are in quote unquote lower status, who have

social relationships with higher status people, it is more common for people who are in,

who are of lower status to like feel worse about themselves or have more, uh, what they categorize

as like basically like mental

health issues or problems based they say they're you know drawing a pretty broad connection here

to say it's sort of because of this for example one quote from this quote these findings

suggest that socializing with higher status people
