of the CES letter. I had read the CES letter before, but revisiting it after this

much time has passed, I don't frequently read the CES letter just for fun. I was surprised anew and

dismayed anew about all of the problems with so much about Mormonism. And the thing

is with the CES letter is it's not necessarily like the most fun thing in the world to read. I think

many of us probably associate it with our dearly held beliefs and most important worldviews crumbling before our very

eyes. But now that I'm this far away from it, I find myself just really fascinated and kind of

empowered is maybe not the right word, but it's almost like a happy reminder of why I left

this all in the first place. If you have never read the CES letter or you also haven't read it for a long

time, I'm going to break it all down. If you're super familiar with the CES letter, maybe you know it

front and back. Don't worry. We're going to have some fun with it.

I want to make this a CES letter breakdown for the girlies. I want to make the CES letter

our bitch and just break this down in a fun and funny and hopefully entertaining way. So regardless of where you fall on the spectrum of

CES letter knowledge, I hope that you enjoy this episode. I kept thinking of this quote from

Jeffrey R. Holland, who is one of the apostles of the Mormon Church while I was preparing for this episode for a couple of

reasons. It says, if anyone is foolish enough or misled enough to reject 531 pages of a heretofore

unknown text teeming with literary and Semitic complexity without honestly attempting to account for the

origin of those pages, especially without accounting for their powerful witness of Jesus Christ

and the profound spiritual impact that witness has had on what is now tens of millions of readers.

If that is the case, then such a person, elect or otherwise, has been

deceived. And if he or she leaves this church, it must be done by crawling over or under or around
