known as The Blessing of the Mendicant,

from the Folk Tales of the Kosses, compiled by by Mrs Raffey in 1920. The Kossi people are an indigenous

ethnic tribe from India. A unique feature of the Kossi people is that they follow the matrilineal system

of dissent and inheritance. In part one, a boy named Yu Babum Doe grows up not knowing that the father he had never known had been eaten by the dragon,jah Jakkakor. The boy was bestowed the ability to cry

tears of gold nuggets because the boy's mother had eaten some magical rabbit stew.

The rabbit was a gift from a wise beggar.

U-Babam do grows up with another boy that is the heir apparent to rule his chieftain.

The prince grows jealous of U-Babam Doe's uncanny luck at winning and charges him with witchcraft.

Now, take a few deep breaths.

You Bobham Doe left the courthouse, burning with shame and humiliation for the stigma that had been

cast upon him and upon his mother and came sadly to his house.

When his mother saw his livid face,
