And I'm just going to let you all know who Pastor Dale is.

So Dale is a pastor and the husband of faith.

Faith is a survivor of incest at the hands of her pastor father.

abuse in our church. That book was published in 2017. That book is actually how I connected

with Dale. I had a friend who attended a conference that Dale and Faith were speaking at, and she brought me the book back as a gift. Thank you, Lori.

And so, Dale, can you just talk to us as a gift. Thank you, Lori.

And so, Dale, can you just talk to us a little bit about how you and Faith kind of really became attuned to this concern?

Yes, so Faith and I met at Bible College, and just before we were engaged, she was able to tell me that her dad had sexually abused her. And it was a horrific time. I could tell it was very hard for her to do that. We didn't talk details. I didn't know the extended abuse. We were married in 1984 after she graduated from Bible College, but it wasn't until the fall of 2006 that I sat down with faith and said, I need to know more about what happened. And that's when I found out the extent of the abuse and the duration from the time she was around nine years old

until 18 years old and was out of the house is when the abuse stopped. And yeah, he was a pastor the

whole time. One of the things I think that, you know, we have a ministry. We started forming it the idea for in 2007.

And we did our first conference in 2008 while I was still pastoring.

And we realized, as we were talking about the ideas for ministry, what it would look like, what we would be doing,

we realized that neither of us had any teaching at all on abuse or domestic violence.

It just, you know, I graduated from a Christian school, been in church since I was born,

graduated from Bible College, and in none of those places, did we ever hear a pastor, a Sunday school teacher,

anybody even use the term childhood, sexual abuse, or even talk about domestic violence?
