I'm very excited for today's guest, someone whom I greatly admire as a person, a player, and a leader. It's Chelsea Center Back, Secretary of Defense for the U.S. Women's National Team, Naomi Germa. In December of 2023, two days before Christmas, I got a text message from Naomi. She was putting together a mental health retreat for NWSL players in San

Diego with the organization Common Goal. The focus of the retreat was to equip players with the

knowledge and skills to better be able to manage stress and grief and the uncertainty that comes

with life transitions. My dad had passed away from cancer earlier that year and the grief

and stress from losing

him shadowed a hard year.
