Now in today's podcast, I'm going to talk about a teaching pioneer.

A teaching pioneer.

I guess I should tell you first,

what is a pioneer? what does that word mean if you don't know

a pioneer is a person who

Does something first.

Right?

There is someone who does something first.

Of course we can have pioneers with an S, plural.

That means a group of people who do something first.

So for example, in the United States, maybe, let me think, 150 years ago or more, there were a group of people that we call

the pioneers, the pioneers, who were they? Well in American history, the pioneers, who were they?

Well in American history, the pioneers

were people who moved to the Western part of the United States.

So at that time, a long time ago, most people in the United States lived on the East Coast.

And the West was mostly empty of Europeans. There were Native Americans there, but there were not Europeans there.

And so people from the East began to move to the West.

They were the first people to move westward
