Okay, we're in a fall Vision Series on practicing the way of Jesus together in Portland.

And here's the basic idea. If you miss the last few weeks, make sure you go back and

listen to the podcast. But here's the basic idea. To be an apprentice of Jesus

is to order our life around three goals.

Goal one is be with Jesus. Goal two, become like Jesus. Goal three, do what he did.

That's essentially our paradigm here at Bridgetown Church.

What does it mean to follow Jesus?

It means you basically erect the entirety of your life

around those three goals, be Jesus become like Jesus do what he did now

we're working through that list one week at a time last week was all about how we change and

are transformed to become like Jesus and then up on the docket for tonight is number three do what he did so

let's start off right here in Matthew chapter four look down at verse 18 as

Jesus was walking beside the sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called

Peter and his brother Andrew. They were fishermen. Come follow me, Jesus said,

and I will send you out to fish for Fisherman, come follow me, Jesus said,

and I will send you out to fish for people.

Or that can be translated if you have in particular

an older translation.

I will make you into fishers of men.
