Summary

Welcome to Teachback Tuesday, where we feature the most popular episodes from the previous season. In the intro, I shared the story of what happened when I ran into a group of attendees at an airport after a conference. These ladies were discussing things that had encouraged their hearts and we were enjoying our conversation. Suddenly, one woman in the group went off-topic with this comment: “You should get your eyebrows done.” After a conference filled with Bible application lessons, that was her takeaway? And you know what I did when I got to a mirror: checked my eyebrows and added that to my personal list of image issues. When this episode first aired, it was downloaded so frequently that we knew we had hit a raw nerve. Image issues are common potholes that roll many of us into the ditch. God can help us with our image issues, and even better than that, He can help us to see ourselves the way He sees us. This brief episode will give you some vital suggestions, like a starter list. You and God will take it from there. When we first aired the episode on overcoming image issues, it received thousands of downloads in a short period of time.

That lets us know that there's something going on there. We hit a raw nerve. Do you know we hardly ever see a real photo of anyone anymore? There's a starting

0:23.0

point for some of our image issues. Most of the images we see today are fake. We don't even have to

0:28.7

look like ourselves anymore. Isn't that crazy? I hope that revisiting this topic today will help you

to overcome this common snare. Let's listen again.

Most of the lessons on Keep the Heart are going to be Bible application lessons, but once

at my dining room table, you've got a cup of coffee and some of my homemade pumpkin bread,

0:54.7

and we're going to have a sister talk about overcoming image issues.

I was at an airport coming home from a conference, and I ran into some of the attendees.

This happens when it's a regional conference and ladies have flown in and out.

We were laughing and talking about the conference and things that encourage their hearts and sharing coffee. And then one lady said this to me, you should get

your eyebrows done. Uh-oh. You know what that did to my mind, right? I immediately developed a

complex. I was wondering what did my eyebrows look like and as soon as I had a chance to get to a mirror,

1:28.5

I went to check. Now, I don't think that lady meant any harm, but without realizing it,

1:33.5

she added another item to my list of image issues.
