Summary

Welcome to TEACHBACK TUESDAY! This episode had thousands of downloads in Season One. There must be a reason for that! Perhaps it's partly because we all have this human tendency to be argumentative, challenging, and even quarrelsome at times. If you had a chance to catch Contentious Relationships in 2021, this will be a refresher, but if you're new to Keep the Heart, this will give you some things to carefully consider in how you're interacting with others. Are there certain things that just easily set you off? If so, you'll find that these irritants often lead to disagreements in your relationships. We will never argue our way to happiness, and the only satisfaction in winning an argument is proving that you can be contentious to the finish line. What can we do about this human tendency to be contentious? The Bible has a lot to say about this subject, but we’ll just examine a few verses in this episode, leaving room for you to continue this important topical study on your own. NEW! waiting for a flight that had been delayed. There was a couple nearby, and they were having a

private argument in public. You know the ones where what they're saying is private, but the volume of

their voices makes it public? The woman seemed

oblivious to the people around her when she said these words. Why don't you man up?

Now, back to today's important study.

1:18.6

It was an awkward scene and most of us were trying not to look, but it was hard not to hear.

1:24.3

The man mumbled something under his breath, and they continued using words like weapons until we boarded. This couple had two children with them, and these children looked

1:28.7

painfully uncomfortable. You know what else I saw? I witnessed a lesson about the damage of being

1:35.7

contentious. Something happened before we saw the tense exchange between that couple. They didn't

1:42.6

just start arguing at that moment. Something tripped

1:46.2

a switch and the fight was on. Are you like that? Are there certain things that just set you off?

1:52.7

And do you get so out of control that you don't even care who hears you or who's watching?

1:59.1

Maybe you get snappy and edgy and salty when people mess up the house. A small

matter but a big deal to you. People just don't see the value of a tidy home you might be
