The longest Psalm in the Bible is Psalm 119.

0:09.7

It has been called the Psalm of the Scriptures because it concentrates on one thing,

0:15.8

the amazing sufficiency of God's word for our lives.

0:20.0

Open to Psalm 119 today and open your heart to the Lord as we join Scott Pauli in this study.

0:26.6

It is our prayer that through God's truth, you will find all you need.

0:36.6

In our last study, we talked about the fact that God uses affliction often to give instruction,

0:43.0

that it is the Lord's classroom. In fact, the Lord has lots of classrooms. He has many ways of

0:49.5

instructing us. You remember when our Lord Jesus was here on earth. It seemed like he held class at the most

0:55.3

unusual times and the unique ways of teaching. And that's the way it works in all of our lives.

1:02.6

Before we move any further in our study of Psalm 119, I'd like to draw your attention to these

1:07.7

two little words. They're found twice in the section that we've been studying, verse 66 and verse 68. They are the two little words, teach me. Teach me good judgment

1:18.0

and knowledge, we read. Thou art good and do us good. Teach me thy statutes. Those two little words

1:26.4

teach me are a revelation of a humble heart, a heart that is hungry

1:32.0

to learn, willing to be instructed, ready to obey. I wonder, do you have that? You know,

1:38.4

sometimes we get to think, we're the teacher. We're all students in the Lord's classroom. Do you

1:42.7

still have the heart of a student? It's one of the marks of the men God used in a mighty way. Speak Lord for thy servant heareth. That's the way Samuel said it. Here am I, Lord, send me. That's the way Isaiah said it. That I may know him and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of his sufferings being made conformable

2:01.3

unto his death. That's the way Paul said it. As the heart paneth after the water brook, so paneth

2:06.4

my soul after the old God. That's the way David said it. You get the point? If you're going to learn

2:12.5

more about the Lord and come nearer to God, then you have to have the heart that is wide open to the Lord and says

2:18.7

simply, teach me. So here's what I want to do today. I want to show you the eight times in Psalm 119 where

2:26.0

this prayer is found because each one of them gives us some principle that we can apply, some application to

2:32.5

our life if we truly want to learn the Lord's way.
